The purpose of entry-level assessment is to assist
advisors in making decisions that will
give new
students the best possible chance of academic success
in OSU entry-level courses. The Office
of University
Assessment (OUA) works cooperatively with Institutional
Research, the Admissions Office, and University
Testing Center to conduct
entry-level assessment at OSU.
Three
methods are used to evaluate a student's readiness
for college level coursework:
-
the
ACT (subtests in English, reading, science,
and mathematics)
-
-
the COMPASS computerized
placement test
All
new students (new freshmen and transfer students
with less than 24 credit hours) receive a Student
Assessment Report (SAR) that summarizes the students
academic information, the results of entry level
assessment, and course recommendations for entry-level
courses.
