Assessment
at OSU results from the coordinated efforts of faculty,
administrators, and professional staff throughout
the university community. The Vice President for Academic
Affairs, the Office
of University Assessment, and the faculty Assessment
Council facilitate and guide the development of
OSU's assessment program.
Program
outcomes assessment. Faculty members and administrative
leaders within each college, department, school, or
program are responsible for program
outcomes assessment for each degree program in
their unit. Typically, one faculty member is designated
as the 'asessment coordinator' for an academic program,
and he/she is responsible for the program's assessment
budget and annual reports. The assessment program
itself is the responsibility of the entire faculty.
Entry-Level
Assessment. Entry-level
assessment is jointly conducted by Institutional
Research, Admissions, and the Office of University
Assessment. Academic advisors also play a critical
role in implementing effective entry level assessment.
General
Education Assessment. Assessment
of General Education is guided by the faculty
General Education Assessment Task Group. The Assessment
Council and General Education Advisory Council approve
the development of gen ed assessment, and the Office
of University Assessment assists the Task Group in
implementing the assessment methods.
Assessment
of Student & Alumni Satisfaction. Student and alumni surveys are coordinated by the Office of University Assessment.
