Teacher-Made
Tests
The
Testing Center (TC) has two National Computer
Systems (NCS) Opscan scanners programmed to score teacher-made tests
on scannable answer sheets. Answer sheets are available in the TC
office or the Student Union Bookstore. The results of scanning
runs
are available within 48 hours after a test is submitted for scoring.
These results include an item analysis, total score statistics,
reliability
estimates, and each student's standard score. This service saves many
hours of scoring time for instructors and can be charged to the
instructor's
department account.
How
to Set It Up
- Take all of your student's answer sheets and put them into a manila envelope.
- Put your answer key on top of the other answer sheets - to make your
key, take an answer sheet and put "KEY" in the Name spaces, then
fill in all of the correct answers.
- Put your Request for
Test Scoring on top of the answer key in the manila
envelope.
- Bring the envelope by 123 UAT Building and put it in the basket on the
desk inside the door. If for any reason the scanning office happens to
be closed, you can leave the envelope at the front desk.
- Results will be ready within 48 hours - you will receive a phone call
to notify you when your scanning is finished.
Tips to Expedite Your Scanning
- Are your answer sheets facing the same direction (not necessarily alphabetical)?
- Did students use pencils and not pens?
- If you get your exam in by 10 a.m. it will generally be ready for pick-up by 1
p.m. (During certain high-traffic times of the school year this time may
be longer.)
