ACT Residual Exam
The on-campus or residual testing program is provided for ACT-participating colleges to administer the ACT to enrolled, admitted, or applicant students who were UNABLE to test on a National ACT Exam date in time to meet enrollment deadlines at OSU. Individuals who wish to take the ACT Residual Exam at the OSU Testing Center must have submitted a current application to OSU before registering to take the exam. Results are reported only to OSU. No High School Reports are generated, and no additional Score Reports will be generated to report scores to any other institution.
Note that the ACT completion dates to be eligible for OSU scholarships can change, and many scholarships only accept National ACT Exam scores (and NOT ACT Residual Exam scores). Visit the OSU Scholarships and Financial Aid website for the latest information. Scholarship deadlines DO NOT affect ACT Residual Exam date offerings; ACT Residual Exam dates are set at the OSU Testing Center based on National ACT dates and OSU enrollment dates.
OSU does NOT accept scores on the ACT Residual Exam for concurrent student (high school) admission.
Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Policy and ACT Policy Statements
Students may only take the ACT Residual Exam once during the year in which the respective ACT Residual examination is valid (November 1 through October 31) and the test date shall not coincide with a national ACT test date. Scores will be cancelled and no refunds will be provided for violations of this policy.
Students may take the ACT no more than 12 times total. In addition to the Regent's policy above, a minimum of 60 days must pass before repeat residual testing. If you choose to test without sixty days elapsing your score will be cancelled and no refund will be provided.
Students must schedule a Residual ACT appointment by contacting the OSU Testing Center at 405-744-5958. Be prepared to give your name, email address, birth date, telephone number, and OSU Campus-Wide ID (CWID) number in order to make an appointment. Students cannot register without this information. If a National ACT Exam date is available between the time a student calls and the student's expected semester of enrollment, the student will NOT be allowed to schedule an appointment to take the ACT Residual Exam but will instead be directed to take the National ACT Exam. Appointments will only be scheduled for students after all available National ACT Exam dates have passed. Scheduling requirements are subject to change.
The Residual ACT Exam is currently offered at the OSU Testing Center on select Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:30AM. ACT Residual Exams will not be administered during OSU final exam weeks or on university holidays.
After completing the ACT Residual Exam, students will receive a “student copy” of their Score Reports, which are NOT an official copy of their scores. The OSU Testing Center will send an official copy to OSU's admissions office.
Students may use calculators on the ACT Mathematics section (but not on any of the other sections of the ACT). Students may use any calculator that is permitted under the ACT Calculator Policy, and it is the students' responsibility to know whether their calculators are permitted. Students must bring their own calculators, as the OSU Testing Center will not provide them.
