Ryan Chung, Director
Dr. Chung is the Director of University Assessment and Testing at Oklahoma State University. He completed a BA in Business Administration at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) in Spring 2001. In June 2004, he arrived in Springfield, Massachusetts as an international student at Springfield College, where he earned a master’s degree in 2007 and a Ph.D. in 2011 in Teaching and Administration. He worked as the Coordinator of Institutional Research at Rockford University in Rockford, Illinois and later as Assistant Director in the Office of Academic Assessment at the University of Oklahoma (OU). While at OU he also taught a general education course, “Personal Health,” in the Department of Health and Exercise Science. At Oklahoma State University, Dr. Chung teaches “Statistical Methods in Education” and “Research Design and Methodology” in the Department of Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics (REMS). Dr. Chung’s research fields include but are not limited to: global aspects within higher education in the US; quantitative and qualitative research methods and survey design; student learning outcomes assessment; and general education assessment. Among his accomplishments, Dr. Chung has published a book in Taiwan: The Truth Be Told: Across Time and Space – The Wisdom of Lao Zi (2014).
In May 2019, Dr. Ryan Chung, Director of University Assessment and Testing, presented sessions and workshops to the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, the Taiwan Association for Institutional Research (TAIR), National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, the Kaohsiung Medical University, and National Sun Yat-Sen University. Sessions collaboratively presented with Dr. Frederick Burrack from Kansas State University included: “Cultivating a culture of assessment”; “The value of student learning assessment and criteria used in accreditation in the U.S.”; “Curriculum mapping”; “Measures to assess student learning”; “How the brain constructs learning”; “Creating learning outcomes in courses that align across a program”; “Integrating student learning assessment and institutional research to support institutional functions: Examples from the United States.” A total of 15 sessions/workshops were presented.
James R. Knecht, Associate Director and STAR System Coordinator
James R. Knecht joined the UAT staff in November 2014. Previously, he worked at OSU as the Learning Center Coordinator for Academic Services for Student-Athletes where he oversaw the tutoring program for OSU student-athletes. He earned a Master of Science in Telecommuications Management from OSU in 2015, a Master of Business Administration from OSU in 2013, and a Master of Arts in English from Texas Tech University in 2003. In addition to overseeing the OSU Testing Center, James also coordinates the STAR System, OSU's implementation of the GradesFirst advising, tutoring, and retention system.
Kelva Hunger, Assistant Director of Assessment and Analysis
Kelva Hunger completed her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri in December 2008. After working as a lab assistant at Oklahoma State University (OSU), Kelva began graduate school at OSU and earned her Master of Science degree in Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics (REMS) in December 2013. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in REMS. During her time as a graduate student, she taught courses in Statistics and Research Methodology. In September 2017, Kelva joined the University Assessment and Testing team as the Assistant Director of Assessment and Analysis.
Steve Brown, Computer Specialist I
Steve Brown has been Technology Manager for University Assessment and Testing at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater for nine years. His responsibilities include all technology support for University Assessment as well as desktop support, lab support, and database development for the Testing Center at OSU-Stillwater. Before his work with UAT, Steve provided multimedia support for the Faculty Support Center at OSU Stillwater, and years previous he provided desktop, lab, and database support for the College of Arts and Sciences for a total combined 20 years of higher education Information Technology experience.
Jennifer Bailes, Administrative Assistant
Jennifer Bailes graduated from OSU with a BS in Political Science. She joined University Assessment and Testing in May 2018 and has previously worked at OSU in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, the College of Arts & Sciences, and DASNR.
Brenda Miller, Sr. Administrative Support Specialist
In 1986, Brenda began employment at the Bureau of Tests and Measurements at OSU, which later became University Assessment and Testing. Prior to coming to OSU, Brenda attended Wichita State University while also serving as the Exceptions Secretary to the Assistant Dean of University College.
Mari Ann Medlock, Sr. Administrative Support Specialist
Mari Ann Medlock began working at OSU in 1994 in the Department of Forestry, which is now Natural Resource Ecology & Management. She also worked in University Academic Services, the Department of Horticulture & Landscape Architecture, and the Student Success Center. She graduated in 2009 from OSU with a B.S. in public horticulture. Mari Ann has been working in University Assessment and Testing since May 2010.
Elizabeth Hall, Sr. Administrative Support Specialist
Elizabeth Hall graduated from OSU in 2018 with bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology. She has previously worked for the OSU Library System and the Sociology Department. She joined University Assessment and Testing in May 2019.
Debbie Humphrey, Sr. Administrative Support Specialist
Debbie Humphrey joined University Assessment and Testing in March 2017.
Julie Burgess, Sr. Administrative Support Specialist
Julie Burgess joined University Assessment and Testing in January 2018. She has previously worked at OSU in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology.
Bradley Fuchs, Sr. Administrative Support Specialist
Bradley Fuchs joined University Assessment and Testing in October 2018.
